ARRANGEMENTS

Hello everybody!!!                                                                     .      . Well, I imagine you are all preparing for your orals next week... If you want to hear an example of two people arranging to meet, I've just found this post from EOI Guía. Listen to the conversation between two of the teachers, Michael and Pina, and see how they use some of the expressions we have seen in class this week. GOOD LUCK!

This Is The Life…

This is the song (end of unit 3A) that we could not  listen to in class, but which you can enjoy right now here (as promised) !!!

Lyrics

This Is The Life
 (by Amy MacDonald)
Oh the wind whistles down
The cold dark street tonight
And the people they were dancing to the music vibe
And the boys chase the girls with the curls in their hair
While the shy tormented youth sit way over there
And the songs they get louder
Each one better than before

And you're singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

And you're singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

So your heading down the road in your taxi for four
And you're waiting outside Jimmy's front door
But nobody's in and nobody's home 'til four
So you're sitting there with nothing to do
Talking about Robert Riger and his motley crew
And where you're gonna go and where you're gonna sleep tonight
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/amy_macdonald/this_is_the_life.html ]

And you're singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

And you're singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

And you're singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

And you're singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

Where you gonna sleep tonight?

PAST SIMPLE OR CONTINUOUS?

The PAST CONTINUOUS indicates actions that were in progress at a specific time in the past:
When the Twin Towers fell, I was eating some pizza and my mother was driving home from work

The PAST SIMPLE indicates finished actions and finished time. It also indicates a sequence of events, one after the other:
When I saw the news, I got up, looked at the TV and phoned my brother in New York.

Revise this point with this presentation:

simple past vs. past continuous

For online exercises on the past simple go here and here. for exercises on the past continuous, go here and here.
